Taraxacum officinale, commonly known as a dandelion, grows all over North America, sometimes covering large tracks of land with their yellow flowers. While they grow best on lawns and in disturbed habitats such as "waste land", they are quite versatile and can survive among other wild plants, growing tall enough to cope.
