Prunus virginiana, commonly known as chokecherry or choke cherry, is a bushy plant that has small edible fruits like berries. The seeds contain hydrogen cyanide (HCN) which is deadly in high doses, so caution should be used[1]. It is said on PFAF that if the seeds or fruit taste very bitter, they should not be eaten[1]
