Cladonia rangiferina, commonly known as reindeer lichen is an edible lichen which, like many of its kind, must be prepared by first removing the acids in it. Because of the slow growth rate and ample preparation needed for Cladonia rangiferina, it's probably more useful as a survival rather than as a staple food.
